Meet the microscopic sensors watching hundreds of neurons think in real time
Neuropixels probes are like having a stadium's worth of surveillance cameras pointed at a single brain region, except they're the width of human hair and they record from hundreds of cells simultaneously.
This means neuroscientists can now watch large populations of neurons communicate in awake, behaving animals and humans, revealing how the brain actually *computes* decisions and perception in ways single-cell studies never could.
