Tree-eating bugs are getting bolder as the planet warms—and forests are noticing

As winters get milder, pests that would normally freeze out survive longer, eat more, and breed faster—it's a tightening noose for trees that evolved to handle occasional bad seasons, not permanent warmth.

This means forest health, timber supply, and carbon storage could all decline faster than we predicted if pest outbreaks accelerate with climate change.
