Could ancient spinosaurs have been ocean dwellers with salt-filtering glands?
We've long thought spinosaurs were semi-aquatic ambush hunters, but new evidence suggests they might have drunk seawater like modern crocodilians do — which would make them much bolder ocean explorers than we imagined.
This means some of the biggest predators in ancient seas might have been more marine-adapted than we thought, reshaping how we picture Cretaceous oceans.
